Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Rwanda Safari Holidays

Day 2: Drive or Fly to Akagera National Park –Rwanda Safari Holidays

You have the option to embark on a scenic drive or take a private charter flight from Nyungwe to Akagera National Park. Once you arrive, you’ll be greeted by the Magashi Shuttle, which will transfer you to the Lodge, or you can choose to drive to Ruzizi Tented Camp. Akagera National Park boasts rolling plains, dense broad-leafed forests, and vibrant acacia woodlands, making it a perfect habitat for diverse wildlife. If time allows, embark on an afternoon game drive where you can spot a variety of animals, including giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, crocodiles, hippos, spotted hyenas, and numerous bird species.

Day 3: Game Drive & Boat Ride on Lake Ihema – Rwanda Safari Holidays

Kickstart your day with an early morning game drive in Akagera National Park, immersing yourself in the park’s rich wildlife and breathtaking scenery. Afterward, return to your accommodation for a well-deserved break.

In the afternoon, set off on a memorable boat ride on Lake Ihema. As you cruise along the water’s edge, lined with lush trees, you’ll encounter numerous giant hippos and observe several crocodiles, some basking in the shallows while others lounge on the shore.

Day 4: Drive or Fly to Volcanoes National Park 

Following a hearty breakfast, venture to Parc National des Volcans (Volcanoes National Park). You have the option to take a private charter flight to the park, offering captivating aerial views of Rwanda’s stunning landscapes. The journey unfolds through picturesque terraced hillsides, gradually ascending to the foothills of the magnificent Virunga volcanoes, often revealing up to five peaks. In the afternoon, choose between leisurely relaxation or exploring the charming town of Ruhengeri.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking – Rwanda Safari Holidays

Today, you’ll embark on an unforgettable journey to meet the mountain gorillas of Volcanoes National Park. Guided by an experienced Ranger Guide, set off on a trek through the lush forest, surrounded by breathtaking views in all directions. The rainforest comes alive with the melodious calls of colorful birds, and you may even have the chance to encounter playful golden monkeys.

As you approach the gorillas, observe their daily activities, from feeding and grooming to resting, all while witnessing the young gorillas’ playful antics, swinging from vines and providing an endearing spectacle.

Alternatively, you can opt for optional activities, such as a golden monkey trek, a hike on Mount Bisoke, or a visit to Dian Fossey’s Grave.

Day 6: Drive or Fly to Kigali and Departure

Today, journey to Kigali, Rwanda’s vibrant capital city, selecting either a scenic drive or a private charter flight. Upon arriving in Kigali, embark on a city tour, which includes a visit to the Genocide Museum located in the suburb of Gisozi. This moving site offers insights into Rwanda’s history, highlighting its path towards reconciliation and unity.

In the evening, bid farewell to Rwanda as you head to the airport for your onward flight, concluding your enriching 7-day adventure through this remarkable country.
