Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Overnight in Musanze – Golden Monkey Trekking Rwanda

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, an experienced driver/guide from Golden Rwanda Safaris will be there to welcome you. You’ll engage in a comprehensive safari briefing before setting off for an overnight stay at Hotel Virunga. Depending on your arrival time, you may opt to spend the night in Kigali.

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park 

Following a delicious breakfast, you’ll embark on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a presentation about the Golden Monkeys and a briefing led by the knowledgeable Volcanoes National Park guides. Physical fitness is encouraged for trekkers, along with appropriate attire such as sturdy hiking boots, long trousers, and gloves to protect against stinging nettles. Be sure to bring snacks and an ample supply of drinking water for this demanding trek, as the rainforest can become hot and humid during the day. Your encounter with the Golden Monkeys will last one unforgettable hour! After the visit, you’ll return to your hotel for lunch, followed by a delightful dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Visit of Twin Lakes Burera and Ruhondo 

After a hearty breakfast, you’ll embark on a visit to the Twin Lakes Burera and Ruhondo. Upon your return, you’ll savor lunch at the hotel and then proceed to partake in Community-Based Activities. These activities offer a unique opportunity to engage with local villagers and participate in various enriching experiences, including conversations with former poachers, cultural insights, learning about marginalized communities, agricultural practices, traditional healing, nature walks, and bird watching. Expert guides will accompany you throughout these activities to enhance your overall experience.

Day 4: Lake Kivu Boat Ride – Golden Monkey Trekking Rwanda

Following breakfast, you’ll set off for a captivating morning boat ride on Lake Kivu. During the cruise, you’ll have the chance to observe a diverse range of birdlife and various aquatic species along the lake’s shores. Additionally, you’ll visit the Hot Springs before returning to the hotel for a restful overnight stay.

Day 5: Gisenyi – Kigali – Golden Monkey Trekking Rwanda

Your day will begin with a hotel pickup, as you journey back to Kigali. Along the way, you’ll make a brief stop at the Genocide Memorial Centre in Gisozi. Here, you’ll also have the opportunity to interact with local artisans and explore their unique handicrafts. Your safari will conclude as you transfer to Kigali Airport for your onward journey.
