At its heart is the Great Migration, an immense natural cycle in which more than two million wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move across the plains in search of fresh grazing and water. Tarangire National Park is a captivating wilderness in northern Tanzania, celebrated for its dramatic baobab-studded landscapes, seasonal wetlands, and remarkable concentrations of wildlife. The park takes its name from the Tarangire River, an important source of water that becomes especially vital during the dry season, drawing animals from across the surrounding ecosystem. The park is particularly renowned for its large elephant herds, which can often be seen moving between ancient baobabs, open grasslands, and woodland habitats. Alongside elephants, Tarangire supports lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, warthogs, and numerous other species.
