Game drive highlights by sector Kasenyi Plains — classic savannah safari Explore expansive grasslands dotted with Uganda kob, buffaloes and elephants, while scanning the plains for lions stalking their prey. This is one of the park’s best-known areas for classic big-game viewing. Uganda Wildlife Authority. Ishasha — the tree-climbing lions Venture into the park’s southern wilderness, where lions are famously known to rest in large fig trees. Search the branches, open plains and riverine areas for lions, topis, elephants and large buffalo herds. Uganda Wildlife Authority. Mweya and the Kazinga Channel plains Drive through bushland and open tracks around Mweya, watching for elephants moving towards water, warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks and other wildlife. The landscape offers beautiful views towards the Kazinga Channel and surrounding rift valley terrain. Uganda Wildlife Authority Best time: Early morning and late afternoon are popular for game drives, when wildlife may be more active and the light is ideal for photography. Sightings vary with season, weather and animal movements, and no particular species is guaranteed.
