Gorilla Trekking Safari Overview

Visit the endangered mountain gorillas and do Gorilla trekking in Uganda’s Bwindi Impossible National Park. This 3-day tour allows you to track mountain gorillas in the Bwindi jungle, what many visitors call a ‘once in a lifetime experience’. You’ll also have the chance to visit the local Batwa dwarves community or visit Lake Bunyonyi, the deepest and most beautiful lake in Uganda with a number of scattered islands, each of which has historical significance.

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi National Park for Gorilla Trekking

After an early breakfast, grab your packed lunch and head to the park headquarters for an introduction to the gorilla ride. After the demo, you’ll be divided into groups of 8, then you’ll head to the Bwindi forest in search of mountain gorillas. It usually takes 1 to 8 hours on foot to find mountain gorillas. This activity is certainly challenging but totally rewarding seeing the giant gorillas, you will be able to take pictures and observe their different personalities while they feed, play and tell story. You’re allowed to spend a full hour with these creatures, then head back to park headquarters. In the afternoon, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, a beautiful lake dotted with several islands.
 

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Bunyonyi Transfer

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala early in the morning to begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas.The trip from Kampala to Bwindi takes 8 hours, so you’ll have several stops along the way, including a stop at the equator where you’ll have the chance to take pictures and enjoy some refreshing drinks as well as African products that you can buy yourself. local craft store before hitting the road again.The next stop will be the town of Mbarara where you will take your lunch break. Your guide will take you to one of the city’s touristy restaurants, where you can sample local or continental dishes for lunch. After lunch, continue your journey straight to Bwindi Impregnable National Park and to the guesthouse where you will check in for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Bunyonyi Boat Cruise and Transfer to Kampala

After an early breakfast, embark on a boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi in which you’ll visit several islands while learning about the lake and the history of the locals. Return to your hotel, pack your bags and then begin your journey to Kampala with a stop at the Igongo Cultural Center, where you’ll have lunch and take a mini tour around the center to learn more about Ankole culture. Then drive to Kampala, which can be a hotel or an airport in case you need to catch a flight home.
