Birding Tour Uganda Overview

Day 1: Birding Tour in Uganda - Transfer to Queen Elisabeth National Park

After lunch, embark on a birding trip, first crossing the equator at Kayabwe in Masaka. Stop halfway for lunch and then continue your journey. Along the way you will see birds such as the short-toed eagle, bearded bee-eater, brown-necked bee-eater, kingfisher, striped martin, short-tailed hawk, gray shrike, treasury, starling and widow. Afterwards dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Birding tour in Uganda and Game Drive in Queen Elisabeth

With a cup of coffee to warm you up, you can start your day. After that, you can take a safari to view the birds on the Kasenyi plains. You can have breakfast after a few hours and then head back to the lodge for lunch. You can go on another safari along the Kazinga Channel in the afternoon. Numerous hippos, crocodiles, and different bird species, including pelicans, storks, and herons, can be seen there. After dinner and sleeping there, go back.

Day 3: Birding watching in Maramagambo Forest

Get ready for another day of safari where you will go bird watching in Maramagambo forest in Queen Elizabeth. Have some coffee and breakfast in the morning, then go for a walk in the forest to see different types of birds. Afterwards, you can take a quick break to eat your packed breakfast while you continue bird watching. After eating lunch at the hotel, you can go to Katwe where you might choose to visit the salt mine. Then, you can look for birds. In this place, you will see different kinds of birds such as flamingos, buzzards, guineafowls, avocets, stilts, cuckoos, kingfishers, bee-eaters, hornbills, and many others. Take lots of pictures and then you can go back, freshen up, have dinner, and relax in the evening.

Day 4: Birding at the Top of Falls then Back to Entebbe

Wake up and get ready for breakfast. Your bags are already packed in the car to go to Kampala. You’ll see different types of birds along the way like the Nubian Woodpecker, Bateleur, Crested Francolin, Blue-spotted Wood Dove, Brown Parrot, Bare-faced Go-away-bird, Lilac-breasted Roller, Broad-billed Roller, Striped Kingfisher, Blue-napped Mouse bird, African Grey Hornbill, Spot-flanked Barbet, Fork-tailed Drongo, Cisiticolas, Weavers, and Widowbirds. You’ll have lunch on the journey and expect to arrive in the late evening. At the airport, you can catch your next flight.
