Gorilla in Uganda Safari Overview

Gorilla in Uganda Safari The 8 Day Uganda Safari From Kigali is for people who want to go on a safari but can only get flights to Kigali or prefer shorter drives. It is also suitable for those who are staying in Rwanda. With the current price of the Gorilla permit in Rwanda, people now prefer to go to Uganda for Gorilla tracking. This trip is good because it has shorter driving times and allows you to visit both Uganda and Rwanda. During the trip, you will be able to see some of Uganda’s National parks like Bwindi Impenetrable National Park,

Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Kibale Forest National Park, where you can see Chimpanzees. On the last day, you can relax by Lake Bunyonyi after the safari.
Detailed Itinerary is a plan or schedule that provides specific information about the activities, locations, and timing of an event or journey.

Gorilla in Uganda Safari Highlights

Wildlife of Uganda

Day 1: Gorilla in Uganda Safari - Arival at Kigali Airport and Transfer to Bwindi

You will be taken from the airport or hotel to start your trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, you may visit the Genocide museum and tour the city of Kigali if there is enough time. The trip is really beautiful and will guide you through a place with lots of hills to an amazing country called the Pearl of Africa.

You can enter Uganda at either the Katuna or Chanika border. From there, you can make a stop at Kabale town if you entered through Katuna, or Kisoro if you entered through Chanika. Afterward, you can continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to stay overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi - Gorilla in Uganda Safari

You will wake up early in the morning and go to the park office to meet other people. They will tell you about what you should and should not do when you are with mountain gorillas during your experience. After getting information about the trek, you will begin your journey into the forest, with the help of scientists and guides. While you are hiking, you might see different birds, animals, and monkeys in the forest.

Once you find the gorillas, you will spend four hours with them and then go back to the Lodge to stay overnight. You will get a chance to watch and learn from researchers while they get gorillas used to being around humans. If you can, you might also help by collecting samples, giving names to group members, making calls, and doing other tasks.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elisabeth National Park - Gorilla in Uganda Safari

After you finish eating breakfast, you will leave for Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda. You will arrive in time to have lunch at Elephant Hab Lodge. Afterwards, we’ll take a short break to relax. Then, we’ll go on a safari in the Kasenyi savannah plains to see wild animals like buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, lions, and leopards if we’re lucky. Go back to your accommodation for the night.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Boat Cruise at Kazinga - Gorilla in Uganda Safari

This morning, you will go back to the plains of Kasenyi for a morning drive to look for anything that you might have missed yesterday. Lunch will be provided at the lodge. Afterward, you will go to the jetty by the Kazinga Channel for an afternoon boat ride. This boat ride lets you see animals like hippos, birds that live in water, elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, and other wildlife that come to the channel to drink water.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Kibale National Park - Gorilla in Uganda Safari

After you eat breakfast, go to the northern side of Queen Elizabeth National Park (kasenyi). Look for wild animals like elephants, buffalos, wild cats, savanna birds, and different types of antelopes such as water buck and Uganda kobs. After you finish eating, you will go in a car to Kibale Forest National Park. You will arrive at your place to stay at night.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking at Kibale National Park - Gorilla in Uganda Safari

On the 6th day, we will go on a mission to locate and observe chimpanzees.
After you eat your breakfast, you will be taken to the Kibale National Park headquarters at Kanyakyu. There, you will join other people who are also going on a trek to see chimpanzees. Before we start the trek, we will give you important information and instructions. A ranger/guide who knows a lot will lead you on a walk with monkeys in Kibale Forest National Park.

This forest is a chance to go see chimpanzees that are used to people, and you can spend an hour with them, watching and taking pictures. Kibale National Park has 11 different types of primates as well as many forest birds. After you go on a trip to see chimpanzees, you will drive to Bigodi Village where you can take a walk in a wetland area. This walk is meant to help the people who live near Kibale Forest National Park. Go back to the Lodge to stay overnight.

Day 7: Transfer From Kibale National Park To Bunyonyi

After visiting Kibale Forest National Park, you can go to Lake Bunyonyi to take a break from the long trip to Kigali and relax after the lodge tour. Lake Bunyonyi is a lake that was created when lava from a volcano blocked a river and caused the water to fill up the space.

Bunyonyi is a word that means “small birds” because there are lots of small birds in this place. Lake Bunyonyi is considered the deepest lake in Uganda and the second deepest lake in East Africa. Someone goes to Lake Bunyonyi because it is very beautiful and a great place to relax after a long safari.

Day 8: Canoeing or Hiking and Back to Rwanda

After you eat breakfast, you can enjoy looking at the pretty lake and the hills around it. You can choose to go on a canoe ride in the lake and visit different islands that have interesting history. You can visit Punishment Island, where girls who have babies outside of marriage are abandoned and left to die.

This activity lasts all day and you will definitely have fun. You can also choose to walk up one of the hills near lake Bunyonyi. Encounter Africa Safaris helps people who want to give back during their trip by supporting volunteer projects. After you finish any of the optional activities, drive to Katuna Border and then go to Kigali. You can either take a late flight or book a hotel on your own.
