Congo Travel and Tours – The 8-day trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo includes both a gorilla safari and a hike up Nyiragongo volcano. DR (Doctor of Rehabilitation) Congo has gorillas that live in both lowland areas and in the mountains. The lowland gorillas live in a place called Kahuzi Biega National Park, while the mountain gorillas are found in Virunga National Park.

Day 1: Arrival and Kigali City Tour - Congo Travel and Tours
We will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel in Kigali. If you come early, you can choose to go on a tour of Kigali and its nearby places. Stay overnight and have dinner at City Blue Hotel.
Day 2: Transfer to Bukavu in DRC - Congo Travel and Tours
In the morning, the driver will come to your hotel in Kigali and take you south to the Cyangugu border on the way to Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo. During your trip, you will have a break in Butare. Here, you will visit the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza, and the Rwanda genocide memorial site. After eating, keep going on a pretty trip to Bukavu with really nice sights of the hills in Rwanda through the lush forest of Nyungwe National park and a good view of Lake Kivu. Have a fancy dinner and stay overnight at the luxurious Panorama hotel.
Day 3: Lowland Gorilla Trekking - Congo Travel and Tours
In the morning, you will start the exciting journey of finding lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park. Finding lowland Gorillas is really fascinating. Lowland Gorillas are different from mountain gorillas because they are larger in size. It usually takes around 1-4 hours to track them. The lowland gorillas live in larger families than mountain gorillas. You will be very happy once you see the incredible gorillas during the safari. In the afternoon, we will drive you back to your hotel.
Day 4: Travel to Goma - Congo Travel and Tours
In the morning, you will go on a boat ride from Bukavu to Goma. The boat ride takes a long time, around 6 to 7 hours. When you arrive in Goma, go to your hotel and relax there for the night. In the afternoon, visit the city of Goma and then go back to the hotel.
Day 5: Goma - Congo Travel and Tours
At 1130am, we will come to get you from the hotel and take you to Virunga National Park. In the afternoon, we went for a walk in nature and watched birds in Kibumba Village. Enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night at the comfortable Kibumba Tented Camp.
Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking - Congo Travel and Tours
After eating breakfast at Kibumba Tented Camp, trekkers will walk down the hill to meet their Ranger guides. The guides will give them some information before they start the gorilla trek. Hiking for gorilla treks can take anywhere from 1 to 2. 5 hours, depending on where the gorilla group is and how challenging the terrain is. After spending one hour with a group of gorillas, the trekkers will return to their camp. They will have a late lunch and have the rest of the day to relax and do whatever they want.
Day 7: At Mount Nyiragongo - Congo Travel and Tours
After eating breakfast in Kibumba, go to the Kibati Ranger post at 8:15am. This is where you start your trek to the Nyiragongo volcano. The hike up the volcano will last for about four to six hours and people will spend the night at the top.
Day 8: Going Down and Leaving - Congo Travel and Tours
After eating breakfast early in the morning at the top of the mountain, we will ski down to the bottom, which should take around until noon depending on how fast the group skis. Once you reach the bottom, go back to Kigali.
