Congo Tour – Congo Eastern Lowland Gorillas are a type of gorilla that are found in the eastern part of the country called Congo.
This 4-day trip is a safari to see Eastern Lowland Gorillas in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Lowland Gorillas live in Kahuzi Biega national park. Kahuzi Biega is a special place in South Kivu where Eastern Lowland Gorillas live. It is also a World Heritage site.

Day 1: Transfer to Kigali then Bukavu - Congo Tour
In the morning, a driver will come to your hotel or the airport in Kigali to pick you up. They will take you south to the border of Cyangugu, on the way to Bukavu in DR Congo. You will make a stop in Butare, where you will see the national museum of Rwanda, the king’s palace in Nyanza, and the Rwanda genocide memorial site. After you eat lunch, you can keep going on a nice trip to Bukavu. Along the way, you’ll see beautiful hills in Rwanda and go through the tropical forest of Nyungwe National Park. You’ll also get a good look at Lake Kivu. Have dinner and stay the night at Panorama Hotel (fancy), Orchid Safari Lodge (moderate), or Hotel Horizon (affordable).
Day 2: Low Land Gorilla Trekking in Kahuzi Biege - Congo Tour
Tourists can visit DR Congo to track and observe lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega.
In the morning, you will go on a memorable adventure to see lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park. Trekking lowland gorillas is really cool. Lowland gorillas are larger and they live in bigger families compared to mountain gorillas. The trip usually takes 1-4 hours. This is a very unique experience because Eastern lowland gorillas are only found in the DR Congo. Later in the afternoon, return back to your hotel by driving.
Day 3: Tshibati waterfall and Lwiro Sanctuary - Congo Tour
After you eat breakfast, you will go on a nature walk in the Kahuzi Biega National Park. There are many different trails for people of all ages, with different lengths and levels of difficulty. You can have a lot of fun in the park because it has many different types of environments, like forests and waterfalls. You can also see a lot of different animals and plants there. If you want to see chimpanzees, you can visit the Lwiro Research Centre, which is not too far away. In the afternoon, go back to the hotel to have dinner and stay the night.
Day 4: Transfer Back to Kigali - Congo Tour
After having a calm breakfast in the morning, you will return to Kigali by driving through the Cyangugu border. Arrive in Kigali in the evening.
