Kinshasa Tour Highlights

Kinshasa Tour

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport - Kinshasa Tour

You will be taken from Kigali International Airport to City Blue Hotels to rest and stay overnight.

Day 2: Transfer to Democratic Republic of Congo - Kinshasa Tour

In the morning, our guide and drivers will take you to the Democratic Republic of Congo. It will take about 4 hours for you to get to Goma. You will eat lunch at Maghali restaurant before going to Virunga National Park. Stay the night at Kibumba Tented Camp

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking at Virunga - Kinshasa Tour

After eating breakfast at Kibumba Tented Camp, the trekkers will walk down the hill to meet their Ranger guides and receive instructions before they start the gorilla trek. Hiking on treks can take anywhere from 1 to 2 and a half hours, depending on where the gorilla group is and how challenging the terrain is. After spending one hour with a group of gorillas, trekkers will return to camp, eat a late lunch, and have the rest of the day free to relax. They can go for walks in nature and watch birds.

Day 4: Climbing Nyiragongo Volcano - Kinshasa Tour

After eating breakfast in Kibumba, go to Kibati Ranger post at 8:15am. This is where the hike to Nyiragongo volcano starts. Nyiragongo is a really pretty volcano that has the biggest lava lake in the world. On the hike in the forested part of the volcano, you will see different animals like chimpanzees, monkeys, and bushbuck. The top part of Nyiragongo mountain doesn’t have many plants and sometimes has a little bit of snow on it. The hike up the volcano will take about four to six hours, and people will sleep at the top.

Day 5: Leaving Tchegera Island - Kinshasa Tour

After the difficult hike up the Nyiragongo Volcano, it’s a great place to go and relax on Eastern Congo’s famous island. Tchegera Island is the best place to go to and get away from the busy city life, especially after hiking Nyiragongo volcano and following the gorillas. We are planning a picnic on the island. If you want to do more than relax, you can swim in the bay without worrying about crocodiles. We also have kayaks that you can use. The area in front of the camp is well sheltered and usually very calm, but the lake outside the bay can be rough. During clear nights, the volcanoes Nyiragongo and Nyamulagira make the night sky red because of their hot and glowing lava. Spend the night at Tchegera Island Camps

Day 6: Visit Goma and Then Travel to Kinshasha - Kinshasa Tour

In the morning, you will go on a boat trip to Goma to explore the city. Goma is a popular city in Congo for tourists, but it can be difficult for new visitors to navigate around the attractions. You can explore the city with a fast tour that shows you the Goma city monument, the Goma beach, Goma downtown, the docks, the city atmosphere, the people, the market, and the opportunity to shop for Congolese hand crafts. After the tour, you go to Maghali restaurant to have lunch.

In the afternoon, you will fly to Kinshasa. When you arrive at N’djili International Airport, a representative from Kwafrika Travel will meet you and take you to your hotel quickly. Take the rest of the day to relax and unwind.

Day 7: Visiting the bamboo Sanctuary - Kinshasa Tour

You need to leave your hotel early to go on a visit to the Lola ya Bonobo Sanctuary. The road after Kinshasa may not be smooth, but you will probably be too busy looking at the nice views outside to notice. The Bonobos are very similar to us, with almost the same DNA. They are kept safe in a special area near Kinshasa. Lola ya Bonobo, which was started by Claudine Andre in 1994, is the only place in the world that takes care of bonobos who have lost their parents. Bonobos can only be found in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

When you get to the Park, which has trees all around it and a lake inside, we can start walking on the path that goes around it. If we’re lucky, scientists or researchers will tell us about the life of bonobos, both in the wild and in the sanctuary. Sometimes they are occupied, taking care of small baby bonobos or assisting with the everyday requirements of the sanctuary. You can see many families living on the land here. It looks like their home in the jungle of Congo. After you finish visiting, the driver will bring you back to Kinshasa for a grand cruise on the Congo River.

Congo River

Kinshasa Tour – This river is very deep and it is the second longest in Africa, only after the Nile. It is also the third largest in the world when we consider how much water it carries, only after the Amazon and the Ganges-Brahmaputra. You can go on a comfortable cruise down the river and reach the dangerous area easily. You won’t find the same kind of ride, safety, and service on other boats.

We use a modern and comfortable boat for our cruise. It has soft seats, a buffet restaurant (which is included), and very strong engines. It’s not like the typical wooden boats that other operators use. We will take you deep into the interior and up the river so you can see cities, villages, and attractions. You can have a great time with your friends and we will also stop at a beach further up the river, where you can try dancing with the local people. This is a really enjoyable boat trip.

Day 8: Exploring the Sites of Kinshasha City - Kinshasa Tour

Kinshasa Tour – On this day, you will explore Kinshasa’s lively culture and history by taking a tour of the city. The tour includes visiting famous places, a busy market, and the flowing Congo River. If you travel with a local guide, they will tell you the stories about each place you visit, like the National Museum, Kabila’s Mausoleum, and the Place of Independence.

You will also discover another very special thing about Kinshasa, called Sapeurs. La Sape is a short way to talk about the group of Sapeurs. The term La Sape means “Society of Ambiance-Makers and Elegant People” when translated. Also called Congolese Dandies, these people believe that looking good and wearing fashionable clothes is extremely important, which is evident and easy to see. You will explore the city using a private vehicle that will keep you safe and comfortable. The cost of entering attractions is also included.

Go to: National Museum in Kinshasa.

Stop at: Kinshasa Art Academy

Make a stop at the Congo River in Kinshasa.

Stop at: Art Symphony, Kinshasa.

In the evening, go back to your hotel to rest and sleep.

Day 9: Leave Kinshasha - Kinshasa Tour

In the morning, you will go to N”djili International Airport to leave.
