6-Day Double Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife in Uganda
Get ready for the ultimate primate adventure in the Pearl of Africa! This 6-day Uganda safari is perfect for travelers seeking double gorilla trekking in two Bwindi sectors, chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge, game viewing in Lake Mburo, and a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel. Optional departure via Kigali. A scenic, wildlife-filled journey ideal for photographers, nature lovers, and adventure seekers.
Your adventure begins with a warm welcome from your Wild Compass Africa safari guide, followed by a scenic drive to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park and a hidden gem. On arrival, check-in at your lodge and later embark on an evening game drive, where you might spot zebras, impalas, elands, giraffes, and even leopards.
Start your day with a guided morning nature walk, offering a unique opportunity to spot wildlife on foot and enjoy the peaceful savannah surroundings. Later, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. After lunch, enjoy an unforgettable boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, famous for its high concentration of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffalo, and hundreds of bird species including African fish eagles and kingfishers.
Today, head out early for chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge, also known as the “Valley of Apes.” This lush gorge within Queen Elizabeth NP offers a dramatic setting for tracking chimpanzees and other primates.
After your trek, enjoy a game drive through the Ishasha sector, famed for its unique tree-climbing lions. Keep your eyes peeled! Later, continue south to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, where you’ll settle into your lodge on the edge of the jungle.
After an early breakfast, transfer to the Bwindi Park headquarters for a briefing before your first gorilla trekking adventure. Led by experienced rangers, hike into the thick rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. Spend one magical hour observing the gorillas, a truly emotional and unforgettable experience.
Return to the lodge to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings of the forest.
Today offers a rare opportunity for a second gorilla trek, this time with a different gorilla family and possibly in a different sector of the forest. This enhances your understanding of their diverse social structures and forest behavior. With two treks, you'll also increase your chances of outstanding photos and unique encounters.
After the trek, return to the lodge for a celebratory evening.
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Kisoro Airstrip for your scheduled domestic flight to Entebbe. Depending on your flight schedule, you may be able to connect directly to your international flight home.
Optional ending: This itinerary can also conclude in Rwanda. For travellers flying out of Kigali International Airport, we can organise a cross-border transfer from Bwindi to Kigali, including a city tour or a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial before your flight.
